Radical Mentoring on Purpose

Why are you here on earth? Because every one of us want to have—and needs to fulfill—God's purpose.

We want to know why we’re here.

Every Christian in America, serious or not, has heard of The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. Short of the Bible, it’s the largest selling Christian book in history.

Why? Because every one of us wants to have purpose.

We want our lives to matter—to know that they count for something and that we make a difference somehow. But the problem is we’ve landed on a “one size fits all” approach to these questions. We automatically answer the question of a purposeful life with “to glorify God.” But what do I do with that? How do I “glorify God” and still be me? It seems too trite and universal to have much meaning, doesn’t it?

We believe there’s a lot more for us to know and take advantage of in this whole area of purpose. We believe God created you in a unique way and with a purpose specifically tailored for you. We’ve seen how peace-giving it can be when a Christian grasps his purpose and starts to “walk in it.” Decisions are so much easier when one can ask, “Is this on-purpose or off-purpose for me?” We start to operate in our areas of strength since God always gives us the talents and skills we need to accomplish the purpose He's given us. It all works together.

And we’ve seen how a mature believer can be used by God to help younger Christ-followers find their purposes, even if they haven’t figured out their purposes before they start.

Short of knowing Jesus and having eternal security, few things compare with knowing why you were put here on this earth.
