Pursuing the Best More Than the Good
“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Everything is meaningless!” Ecclesiastes 12:8.
In today’s world, the pursuit of happiness seems to be the ultimate journey. We are bombarded by images and messages telling us that if we bought that, travelled there, or had more of this, then we would be happy. But the reality is that the pursuit of things to make us happy can actually derail us from the great life God has in store for us.
If we are not careful in our pursuit of happiness, everything in our life will become meaningless.
Don’t let your desire for happiness eclipse your pursuit of a relationship with God. Because when you pursue God first and foremost, everything else will fall into place. Then you’ll discover a life of much more than happiness; you’ll experience a life of peace and joy.
Ask God to reveal to you where you are putting a pursuit of happiness above a pursuit of Him. Pray for wisdom and discernment so you can pursue the right things in life.
Read Ecclesiastes 12:1. Write it down on a card and carry it with you as a reminder of what your priority should be in any and every pursuit.
