Purposeful Choices

Description

Our lives are defined by our choices, which have eternal consequences.

Luke 12:8-9 (NIV®)

“I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.”

God created humans different from everything else in creation. We don’t just respond from instinct; God has given us a free will, and we make purposeful choices. Sometimes we make them assertively, sometimes we make them passively, but our lives are defined by our choices. I want to encourage you to be conscious of that. When you hear the name of Jesus demeaned, and you hear people critical and hostile toward the Christian faith, how do you respond? Are you silent, or do you speak up? Do you think, “This is not my battle. I don’t have to say anything”? Or do you think, “I will not be silent while they mock the name of my Lord”? Either way, you make a choice, and it has eternal consequences.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, You have called me and claimed me as Your child who bears Your name. I will acknowledge You and defend Your name before all people. May I always be found faithful to be called a Christian. In the precious name of Jesus, the name that is above all names, amen.
