Prosper Our Work
Description
Though she’s a widow and the mother of four children, Malian farmer Sama Guindo is confident of her ability to provide for her family.
In lean times, Sama borrows from the community cereal bank World Vision helped establish.
"With this cereal bank, no one starves in this village as long as there is enough grain stocked in it. We borrow the cereal, which we need to refund after the next harvest,” she says.
Cereal banks play an important role in both food security and the fight against malnutrition, providing access to food when grain is rare and market prices high.
