Acts 2:40 (NIV®)
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
Peter’s message, delivered in the first century, is just as current as today’s headlines and just as relevant to you and me. But we cannot save ourselves on our own. We need the power of God to set us free. If the Spirit of God is dealing with you―”conviction” is what we call that in church language―if you’re uneasy with some attitude, practice, habit, or some thought you’re holding, give it to God. If there’s a place you just can’t get comfortable with the Lord, don’t just live with it―repent. Say, “God, I’m sorry. I want to turn away from this.” And He will help you. Don’t keep looking around for a messenger who will give you a pass or one with a softer message, or you will miss God’s invitation to freedom. And that is exactly what God wants to do: set you free.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the freedom You offer to all who call on Your name. I’m sorry for choosing ungodliness. Specifically, I choose to turn from ______________. Thank You that You will help me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
