Precautions that Preserve Your Life

Description

Temptations can run over our lives and destroy us! Without His restraining influence within our own hearts-- what a mess we would be!

"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

-2 Corinthians 10:5

Paul tells us to be ready to give the reason for the hope that we have. In the same breath- we also need to defend the faith against all sorts of enemies; foreign and domestic. People believe all kinds of lies; from the misconception that they belong on the throne of their own lives to all glory and honor going to none other but "theirs truly". The BIGGEST problem with all of this being that we are replacing God and His rightful place with our own narcissistic egos.

But that's not the most important part of that verse! It wraps up with, "and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."  Literally meaning to convict our thoughts ( as though they are a living thing ) and make them a prisoner within our own minds!  If we don't take these precautions to protect both ourselves and others- our thoughts or temptations would over run our lives and destroy us!

Prayer: Lord- thank you so much for the guardrails you have put in place within us!  Thank you for loving us so much- that you take up residence in our inmost being! Without your restraining influence within our own hearts- what a mess we would be! Give us the wisdom to fully understand that history revolves around You and Your story; and our chief purpose is to be a reflection of Your Glory to the world.  Amen
