Praying Together

In Aber, in northern Uganda, World Vision donors in the United States sponsor 4,000 children.

Sponsorship funds things that matter to children—providing them with good schools to attend and encouraging parents to supply their children with healthy food at lunchtime. Parents take classes from World Vision staff to learn to care for their children and plan for their future. Children stay after school for Bible study where they watch films about Jesus and even learn to preach. World Vision throws birthday and Christmas parties for the children as well.

World Vision built schools and distributed books, pens, and school materials. “They gave us nets and blankets to reduce our medical costs,” says Nelson Acut, Nancy’s father. “We used to scoop water from a well. World Vision put in a borehole. Now we have clean water.”

World Vision has helped Nelson and Jacinta Amongi, Nancy’s mother, give their children a firm foundation in faith. “We know from their image that World Vision is Christian,” says Jacinta. “Every gathering starts with prayer. World Vision says to always pray with your family. They say: ‘Pray for your sponsors. Pray for your children.’ They share the word of God through Bible forums with the children.”

Philemon 1:2 “…and to the church that meets in your home.”

Pray blessing on those who make prayer the heart of their home.
