Pray for Warmth in the Cold
“I needed clothes and you clothed me...” (Matthew 25:36).
In Vaslui, Romania, winters are harsh. Maria Oprea, 66, and her grandchildren, Ciprian and Marina, survive on about $150 a month—and there is hardly any extra left over to purchase warm clothing.
Spend time in the photo's moment and steep in the details. What is touching? What is disturbing? What does the photo say about those who live in poverty?
Marina’s bright pink coat is brand new, a gift from World Vision.
Maria and her grandchildren wear their heavy coats and boots inside the house, because she seldom has enough money left to purchase firewood or repair cracked windows.
Imagine facing an icy winter without a warm coat. Ask God to provide for families so they can afford to properly clothe themselves.
Ciprian and Marina are lucky that their grandmother was able to take them in; many children in Romania live in child-headed households because one or both parents left to find work in other European Union countries. Pray for the safety and care of children who have no parental contact or supervision.
Ask God to ease Maria’s burden and worries about her grandchildren and to assure her that Ciprian and Marina are in his loving care.
