Pray for Caregivers
“I was sick and you looked after me...” (Matthew 25:36).
Maria Lorena Orellana, a 25-year-old doctor, grew up in a poor family and was once a sponsored child, which ensured she could go to school. Lorena completed medical training in 2010, returning to her community to address critical health issues.
Spend time in the photo's moment and steep in the details. What is touching? What is disturbing? What does the photo say about those who live in poverty?
Lorena examines sponsored child Aracely Peredo Hinojosa, 5. The girl looks healthy now, but she was once malnourished. Preventable conditions like malnutrition, diarrhea, and respiratory illnesses are common in Tiraque. Notice Lorena’s expression and gentleness—indicators that Lorena’s work is more than a job.
Think about what it would be like to raise a family where basic nutrition, hygiene, and safe food are limited. Pray that God would ease the desperation of parents’ hearts and lead them to help for their families.
Thank God for equipping Lorena to care for children and to teach women to provide nutritious meals for their families. Pray that Tiraque’s sponsored children will grow up to become change agents in their community.
