Praise the Lord

Wendy Pope encourages you to read the psalms aloud to help you praise the Lord.

Scripture: Psalm 136, 146-150

"Praise the Lord." Psalm 146:1, 147:1, 148:1, 149:1, 150:1

Five out of the six psalms we read today start with the same three words: praise the Lord. After reading these, who could not shout "Praise the Lord!"?

We are joyful if we have the God of Israel (Jacob) as our helper and our hope is in Him. Oh, I love the ways that God is described in 146:6-10:

  • He made, gives, frees, opens
  • He lifts, loves, protects, cares
  • He frustrates the plans of the wicked
  • He will reign forever

Spend some time today reading each psalm aloud. Emphasize the phrases mentioned above. If you highlight or write in your Bible, mark these phrases.
