Perspective to Assess
Description
One of the challenges of the apprentice stage of leadership is not having a broad enough perspective to accurately assess success and failure. Did your efforts succeed because of natural talent or systems already in place? What precipitated failure, lack of planning, bad timing, or undeveloped skills? Were the results typical and repeatable? What lessons can you learn to set yourself up for greater success in the future? This is where an apprentice needs an established, experienced leader to provide insight, perspective, praise and correction. Who can you talk with in order to gain a better perspective on your leadership?
Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser.Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more. Proverbs 9:9
Prayer: Lord, I want to be open to the wisdom of others today. Especially in the areas where I am learning how to lead, where I have new and untried tasks. Give me the humility to ask, listen and learn from those who have more experience and wisdom than me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
