People of Wisdom
Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.
Some people seem to be blessed with wisdom in a mighty way. They just always appear to know what to do in situations, they keep their head in difficult situations, and they appear to be wise beyond their years. Do you know anyone like that? Do you wish you were one of those people?
Wisdom is found in God and James tells us to ask God for wisdom and He will give it to us abundantly. (James 1:5) Ask God to give you wisdom and in the meantime, surround yourself with wise people. In a mom’s world, there is no greater asset than other moms who are a few steps ahead of you, that have already been through the potty training days, been through the first days of school, been through the first sleepover, been through the first date, the first day of high school and college. There is wisdom in surrounding yourself with wise people to help guide you through this journey of motherhood.
In order to benefit from wise people, you need to humble yourself and realize that you do not have all the answers and you could glean a thing or two from others. There is no shame in that. The shame comes when you don’t ask and you operate out of ignorance. Ask your mom, your grandmother, ask your small group leader, or Sunday School teacher. Usually these women are willing to help you out and if they do not have the answer they help you find someone who does.
I thank You that You give wisdom to all who ask. I am asking now. I need wisdom in my life, to know how to parent in a wise way. God, until I get there, bring someone into my life that will share their life experience with me and who will point me always to You.
