If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete—JOHN 15:10–11.
Joy is supremely different than happiness. Happiness, considered our “inalienable right” as Americans, depends on circumstances or things or people or feelings. But joy is something else. I like the definition that joy is “peace dancing.” Joy is rooted in a deep contentment that is independent of everything — except our relationship with God.
In our relationship with Him we find all that brings “sparkle” to life:
Satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment.
Jesus said He told us these things so our joy would be complete.
