Peace and Plenty

Be thankful for the prosperity that can be rewarded from His abundant land.

Graciela is a prosperous third generation farmer in Ecuador’s northern Carchi province.

Graciela, her husband Segundo, and their family of five tend the farm and their animals.

“We love living here and working here. It is a strong community,” says Graciela. Their community is much like a large family; every individual has a genuine interest in seeing their neighbors prosper.  They share in the difficulty of farming.

“We wake up early, work late and usually in the rain,” she says.

Because they knew they could depend on each other, the women applied for a group loan through VisionFund Ecuador, a World Vision entity. A group loan provides repayment security, so that if any member is unable to fully repay their portion, other group members can help. It’s a group effort to see that all their businesses and families can thrive. The group received a loan in which each member got USD $1400.

Graciela used her portion to purchase fertilizer, seeds, pig food, and farming equipment to make tending their 3.5 acres of land more efficient for her family and their workers. During harvest time they sometimes employ up to 50 people.

Judges 18:7 -  “…And since their land lacked nothing, they were prosperous....”

Thank God for an abundant land that enables prosperity.
