There was a popular game we played on the playground called “cat.” One player, the cat, had to catch a mouse, who then also became a cat. There was only one way to escape ... run!
Fortunately for us, we just had to call a “time out” at any point to stop the game for a moment so we could rest and catch our breaths.
Do you ever feel like you’re being chased? By some sort of situation that’s pressuring you? Like the fear of not measuring up, the threat of divorce, financial difficulties, or health problems? We all have our “pursuers” and stressors.
But by God’s grace, you have the ability to escape the stress caused by your situation! How? By saying “pause”! Calling a “time out”! By calling upon the One who helps you to catch your breath ... Jesus. Did you know that the word “selah,” often translated “pause,” occurs more than 70 times in the book of Psalms? What if we could “pause” at least two times a day?
At any time, you can speak to Him and open your heart to Him. Bring your problems to Him and receive His peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding.
“The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.” (according to the Bible, Philippians 4:7)
His peace is available to you ... you will get through every situation in confidence because “in quietness and trust is your strength.” (the Bible, Isaiah 30:15, NIV) If you would like, I invite you to worship the Lord and soak in His peaceful presence with this song, “Quietness and Trust” by Julie True, based on this scripture.
Catch your breath, pause in His presence, and then go from that place free of all stress and pressure!
