Open Hands, Gentle Touch, Hearing Heart
Open hands, a gentle touch and a hearing heart...
That’s how to treat somebody. In fact, all bodies. It’s called loving. It’s what we are called to do. No matter who we are. Or who they are. No matter who’s the leader or who’s the follower.
Let’s look a little closer.
Open hands. The opposite of managing people. To manage is to handle. Nobody likes to be handled. There’s something about the grip of someone on you that begs resistance. Instead, hold with open hands.
Gentle touch. There are times, maybe not often, that you need to reach out and touch someone. Especially when anger is required. But even then, in the midst of firmness, a gentle word and a gentle work brings generous results.
Hearing heart. An understanding heart. A wise heart. In fact, it is the heart of wisdom. Always start with where the other person is. Listen, listen, listen, with your heart.
