On the Battlefield

Description

There is a constant assault on our minds. Ungodly thinking has to be defeated or it will dominate our lives.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV®)

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

“Demolish.” “Take captive.” This is very assertive language from Paul. I believe he’s using himself as an example, that he intends to demolish any thoughts and ideas that set themselves up against his knowledge of God. The only thoughts I can control are my own, and I have to ask myself, “If every thought I have was displayed on a screen for everyone to see and reviewed by the Lord Himself, would I be OK with that?” Guard your mind, the Bible says, because it is a battlefield. Be careful what you watch, what you listen to, and what you let people feed into your mind because it is the well-spring of life. We must acknowledge the fact that there is a constant assault on our minds and that ungodly thinking has to be defeated or it will dominate our lives. Thankfully, we are more than able to do that through the power of the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help me to demolish any thought or idea that is contrary to my knowledge of You. Thank You for the Holy Spirit, who leads me as I live my days on the earth with eternity in view. Purify my mind, Lord, so that every word and image that passes through it is worthy of a child of the King. In the cleansing name of Jesus, amen.
