Oh What Great Love Is This
I saw this picture today remembering the pure innocent friendships in those lazy, crazy summer days in Arizona. Friendships are special to me.
I will never forget the day I read in Scripture He calls us "Friend."
Prayer became talking to a friend. Reading His Word became intimate communication. The Secret Place of my heart was different because I was with Jesus, my friend.
This morning I was thinking about this and wrote these words.
OH! WHAT GREAT LOVE IS THIS?
They were with Jesus.
They heard Him teach.
They saw Him preach.
They felt Him pray.
They watched Him heal.
They walked with Him.
They knew Jesus.
Jesus knew them.
Judas betrays Him.
The cock crows twice
Peter denies Him.
Jesus dies for them.
Oh! What great love is this?
A relationship sure.
A salvation pure.
He is risen.
Holy Spirit sent.
The world never the same again.
We may live also.
Live to hear Him.
Live to see Him.
Live to feel Him.
Live to watch Him.
Live to walk with Him.
Live to know Him.
Live to be known by Him.
Oh! What great love this is!
Thinking of the security of that friendship reminded me of this verse—also found this is my reading. It is a verse to an old hymn sung in Keswick, 1952, by those who knew Him well as their friend and found Him in the secret fellowship of prayer. What was real from the past is real today—and will be real tomorrow and every day too. Friendship!
Jesus has loved me, wonderful Savior!
Jesus has loved me, I cannot tell why;
Came He to rescue sinners all worthless.
My heart He conquered, for Him I would die.
My dear friends, I pray that you find sweeter friendship in Jesus too...bold, loved and encouraged.
"I call you friends." John 15:15
The next day the rulers, the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem. Annas, the high priest, was there and so were Ciaiphas, John, Alexander and others of the high priest family...When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. Acts 4:5-6,13 NIV
The next day their rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem, with Annas, the high priest, Caiaphas, John and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priest family...Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized them as companions of Jesus.
