No More Leftovers
Colossians 3:17 (NIV®)
Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
For a long time I thought Christianity was about leftovers—leftover interest, leftover time, leftover clothes, leftover appliances—until I started to serve the Lord, and then I discovered that God doesn’t want or need my leftovers. Why do we think Almighty God would involve Himself with us if we’re just marginally interested? Too often we give more, and more joyfully, of ourselves to a hobby or sports team than we give to God. God wants our best, and I mean more than money and time. He wants a complete commitment from the inside out, a commitment that comes from your heart with thanksgiving, because “whatever you do” you are doing in His name and for His glory.
Heavenly Father, forgive me for all the times I have given You less than my best or given with a grudging spirit. It all belongs to You, Lord, and all I am and have is a gift from You, so help me to always give back to You with joy and thanksgiving. In the name of Jesus, amen.
