Romans 8:1-2 (NIV®)
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
Years ago a man told me he couldn’t stay in a church where the pastor admits he struggles with sin. I said, “Well, we'll miss you.” I don’t boast in it, but sin is universal, and it’s pointless to pretend we aren’t challenged by it. And while religious environments are world class at distributing guilt, the redemptive story of Jesus means “there is now no condemnation” for us—now, in this moment. Yes, we will struggle with sin, but God made provision that so you and I do not have to lead lives defined by condemnation. Now that's remarkable!
Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You are a God of forgiveness. You are holy and righteous in all Your ways yet merciful toward all who call on You through the cleansing blood of Jesus. May I live for You and bring honor to Your name in my days under the sun. In Jesus’ name, amen.
