New Creation
Description
Isaiah 54:4-5
“Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband --the Lord Almighty is his name- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.”
Our past can sometimes emerge in our roles as moms. As we teach our children and train them up to be adults, we can see where they will make mistakes because we remember exactly where we made our mistakes at their age. Sometimes the remembering of our past can haunt our current days and negatively affect our future.
These verses in Isaiah give us hope. God is a redeeming God, one that will restore our broken past and replace the ashes with beauty. (Isaiah 61:3) God has perfectly placed you and your child together for a reason. You as a mom are able to speak truth into your child’s life like no other person. Use your influence in a wise way. Allow God to heal you from your past so you will be able to effectively parent your child in the way he should go. If you are unable to heal from your past, you will drag it into your present with your children. God is offering restoration and healing; take Him up on His gift to you. Always remember, you are a new creation in Christ. (II Corinthians 5:17) It is not what you “feel” is true of you, it is what “is” true of you that you must hold onto in life.
Prayer:
Father,
Your love is SO great, I cannot comprehend it all the time. How you are able to heal my painful past and restore me to a place of beauty is beyond my understanding, but God, I trust in You. Thank you Lord for such an amazing gift. I pray that I will be able to forgive myself and be the kind of mom to my children that You call me to be. God use my past circumstances in whatever way You wish to guide and direct my children. Thank you for Your healing and Your love.
