Jesus fixes all of our problems and takes away our sense of want. He is satisfying to our souls--not for a moment, but for eternity.
It is easily possible, at the average Chinese buffet, to consume as much as 4,000 calories in a single plate. And hours later, after our bodies have stored all of the sugar, fat, and other unidentifiable substances away? We’re hungry again.
It is possible to attain wealth, reach the top, be the center of attention, and experience abundant pleasure and still come up empty. Not only is it possible, it’s certain that chasing anything other than our Creator leaves us unfulfilled. And to an unfulfilled world, Jesus came and offered Himself as living water and the bread of life.
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. - John 6:35 (NIV)
He is satisfying to our souls, not for a moment, but for eternity. Everything else is fleeting. It isn’t that Jesus fixes all of our problems and takes away our sense of want. It is instead that He gladly makes Himself available to us with an open invitation to come to His table and feast on the richness of knowing Him and taking Him into our lives more fully.
When we receive Him for the first time, He fills the holes left empty by everything else we’ve ever pursued, and He is readily available to fill the empty pockets along the way as we approach Him daily, and even moment-by-moment.
Have you feasted on His goodness and His grace yet today?
