My Strength

The days of a mom are long and hard. But take heart, God is your strength every morning and every night.

Isaiah 33:2

Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.

The days of a mom are long and hard. Some days you hear your child wake up and walk down the hall and you just want to roll over in bed, pull the covers over your head and say “go away.” But, a mom never gets that luxury. Before you know it, your child has crawled into bed with you, tugging on you, begging you to get up, persuading you to begin your day of service to them.  And we do it.

We pray that these long hard days will pass quickly and our children will grow more independent and self-sufficient…and they do. Then when our children are older, teenagers and young adults, we actually long for those earlier years because we are faced with bigger issues. It is no longer a plea to make breakfast or get out of bed at 6:00 a.m. —no, we are now discussing sex, college choices, the influences of friends and making wise choices. Once again, our days as a mom are long and hard.  Waiting up until midnight for our teenager to get home from their date, anticipating if alcohol might be on their breath and if it is, how will we handle the situation?  These days are hard and long. But take heart, God is our strength every morning and every night. He is gracious to us and understands where we are and He is available to us.  Don’t travel this journey of motherhood by yourself —God is your strength.  Allow Him to be your companion.

Father, Every morning, I want You by my side to guide me, build me up and to give me strength.  I cannot do this job of motherhood on my own.  I am lost on my own, wandering about. I need You. Thank You for always being there for me and for loving me the way You do.
