My Need for Control

Sometimes what we really need is God's perspective and peace.

It had been one of those days where life felt out of control, so I decided to do… laundry.

Later that night, I went upstairs to put clean clothes away in my son’s room, and discovered he had not put his clothes away the week before! Instead, he’d stacked them on his dresser, thrown dirty clothes on top of them, and his big pile of clothes had fallen over into his hamper filled with sweaty, stinky shorts.

I was not a happy mama! I did not use that opportunity to coach my son. Instead, I let my need for control, control me.  I yelled at Josh and then felt guilty, which made my bad day even worse.

Later I realized I wanted to do laundry and for his room to be clean so I’d feel like something in my life wasn't a mess, but what I needed was a good dose of God’s perspective and peace.
