2 Samuel 22:34
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.
Living on a mountain, I can tell you that the higher you climb, the rockier the ground becomes and the less “sure footed” I become. This mountain terrain is a challenge to navigate…but not so for the deer. The deer climb and leap around the mountain like they are walking on a grassy field. Deer are able to do that because of their hooves. God designed a deer’s hoof to withstand the jagged rocks and steep slopes.
How amazing that God uses the example of the deer in 2 Samuel? God knows that sometimes in our life, there will be rocky patches where we physically, mentally or emotionally cannot walk. He knows it will be too hard or too painful for us. So, in His infinite love, He makes our feet like the deer, so we can go where we used to not be able to go. With God as our provider, we are able to stand on the heights. Through God, we are able to walk on the rugged terrain like it is a grassy field beneath our feet. Only through God can this miracle happen.
Are you allowing God to enable you? Are you taking full advantage of His power in your life? Your heavenly Father wants to provide for you in ways you cannot even imagine. He is not promising to take you out of your circumstances, but He is promising to enable you to walk on the heights in the midst of your circumstances. Allow God to work in your life and experience all He has to give.
Father, Your power is beyond comprehension. Your love has no end. Thank You! Thank You for loving me even when I push You away. Thank You for equipping me with what I need and when I need it. God, I want to be like the deer- to walk on the rocky mountain and be sure footed…I want to experience the heights. Take me there Lord, I will allow You to work in my life.
