Mother's Helper

Dina shows how she carries her jerry can of water when she walks to school every day. Villagers where she lives in West Pokot County, Kenya, walk 6K (3.73 miles) a day for water.

Dina is excited to share her love of school with Cheru, her younger sister. “I will take her every day,” she says. Dina is excited to share her love of school with Cheru, her younger sister.

But before they go to school, the girls have to walk to the waterhole and dig for water so they will have water to use at school. It’s dirty water and sometimes they get sick, but it’s the only water they have.

If her parents have their way and easily accessible clean water comes to these boys and girls, they will take a new path that leads beyond the waterhole to opportunities in higher education and careers.

You can help to bring clean water to children like Dina who walk 6K for water every day. Join World Vision’s Global 6K for Water wherever you are.
