Money Equals Security

Description

Our finances cannot offer us security - only God can.

God owns it all.  Psalm 24:1 (NIV) says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” We are not the Creator, the Sustainer, or the Provider of our own resources.

God also asks us to be stewards of our finances.  He entrusted us with financial resources, and He expects us to manage and use those resources wisely and responsibly. Sometimes, though, our human need for security causes us to look to our money as the key to that security, and so, we are tempted to hold our money tightly and control it carefully.  We believe that, if we just have enough control of our finances, we will eventually find a secure, peaceful place, and we won’t have to worry anymore.  If we just have enough money, our security will be bought, insured, or guaranteed.

Our temptation is to take what He has given to us and hold it so tightly that we place our trust in the resources rather than in our Heavenly Father.

Thankfully, God will never allow our craving for security or control to be ultimately met in our money.  We may briefly feel that money satisfies our need for security, but He is faithful to remind us that He is our only source of security and that He is in control of the outcomes of our stewardship.

When we view our financial decisions as a part of our stewardship responsibility to God, we can surrender our need for control and our need to find security in our money, rather than in our Creator.

May God’s peace encourage you as you pursue financial wisdom and depend on His Truth.
