Mom’s Helpers
Description
Sokhen, who lives with her children in Pnomh Penh, Cambodia, is depending on her husband, Vey, to send money from his job in Thailand. He went there a month before hoping to find steady work on a construction site. While he found work right away, the person who hired him cheated him out of his money.
Now his family in Cambodia is just barely getting by. Food for her children is Sokhen’s biggest concern. Sometimes they just have enough money for one meal a day.
Sokhen borrowed money from a village middleman. When her husband sends money, she will have to repay that debt with an exorbitant interest rate.
