Mature Daughters and Sons

Description
Yesterday we said that the law was like a child guide or tutor who led Israel to Christ so as to really learn. Today we emphasize that Christ has come to benefit all of us. Paul wrote.
23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed.
24 Therefore the Law has become our child-guide unto Christ, that we may be justified by faith.
25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a child-guide.
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus—(Gal 3:24-26).
The first benefit is that through Christ we are justified by faith: we are all right with God forever. The second benefit is that we are treated like adults sons and daughters and not overprotected kids who are given rule after rule to obey. The gospel treats us like adults who can respond with gratitude to God's love instead of like children who have to be trained to obey the simplest rules. In the Greek world children were ordered around and adults were given the freedom of choice and of relationship. In Christ we are justified and free to choose to love God.
