Manna From Heaven

Don’t look too far ahead; stay in the moment with your child. God will provide you what you need, when you need it.

Exodus 16: 14-16

When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor. When the Israelites saw it , they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat. This is what the Lord has commanded: Each one is to gather as much as he needs.” Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”

When the Israelites were wandering in the desert for 40 years, God gave them Manna to eat, but God only provided what they needed each day.  The Israelites could not store up extra food because if they did the Manna would begin to smell and have maggots (Exodus 16:20). It is interesting that God only gave them what they needed one day at a time.

It is like that in our lives as a mom. We worry and fret over our children and their future--whether or not we will send them to the right school, or whether they will have the right friends in their teenage years, or whether our kids will be safe when they learn to drive. But, God wants us to be in the here and now with our children. Don’t look too far ahead, stay in the moment with your child. There  is enough to focus on for this day. God will provide you what you need, when you need it.

Start your morning , thanking God with His provision for your life-today. Submit your requests to Him and accept what He gives you for today. God knows what you need each day, even before you ask for it. He knows what your children need as well. Keep in step with God and don’t run ahead.

Father, Thank You for this day. Thank You for my children. God, my tendency is to always run ahead of You and look to the future. Please help me stay in step with You and to  stay "in the moment  today with my children."  I don’t need to worry about what my future will bring concerning them because You have blessed me with today. Today is enough for me. Thank You for Your provision.
