Make Jesus Real In Your Life

How can you make Jesus real in your life?

This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth (1 John 5:6).

Many years ago, a young man who was a skeptic came up to speak with Dr. George Truett after he preached one Sunday morning. He told him, “Dr. Truett, I've been skeptical my entire life of the Christian faith. But after hearing your sermon this morning, I have to ask, is Jesus Christ real to you?”

The white-haired pastor didn't want to answer hastily or thoughtlessly; so he bowed his head and thought for just a moment. Then he looked up, and with a tear streaming down his face he said, “Young man, Jesus Christ is more real to me than the skin on my bones.”

That young man said, “If Jesus is that real to you, then I want to know Him, too.”

So how can Jesus become real to you? Well, it begins when the Holy Spirit of God takes up residence in your life. Then, the Spirit of God testifies alongside the Word of God to the presence of the Son of God. They all work together!

If you want Jesus to be real to you, the first part is to listen to the Spirit’s leading in your life. Then, dig into God’s Word – the Bible – and ask the Spirit to open your eyes to its reality and power. Once you do that, you’ll find Jesus will become more real to you than ever before!

Make Jesus real in your life by allowing God's spirit to speak to you through his word.
