Make Disciples of All the Nations
God made you a disciple, but He didn’t stop there. He also gave you the ability to make disciples!
Most of us became disciples as a result of the prayer, commitment, and love of other believers who led us to know salvation in Christ Jesus. And now, we too are responsible for letting the light shine!
God often has much more faith in us than we do in Him!
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” (see the Bible, Matthew 28:18-20)
A true disciple makes disciples! Jesus was our example: He taught the crowds, of course, but in particular, He trained 12 disciples for three years. And He trained these 12 to in turn train many more disciples!
This is what we’re called to do: make disciples, who will then train others! How do we do this?
- By helping someone discover faith,
- By taking the time to walk alongside someone in his/her Christian walk,
- By helping without judging,
- By being an example,
- By praying extravagantly.
And then the person who receives this free love can then pass it on to someone else! This is God’s incredible plan that includes each one of us in this magnificent adventure of sharing the gospel!
