Luke 7

Description

A tour of Luke 7 with Ken Boa.

As Jesus progresses in His ministry of preaching, healing, and demonic expulsion, He encounters the dual response of growing belief and growing rejection. In this and the following chapters, Luke places particular stress on the perfect humanity as well as the kindness and compassion of Jesus. His concern for all classes and conditions of people (poor and wealthy, women, Jews, Samaritans, Gentiles, tax collectors, and religious leaders) is especially evident in this book. Luke portrays Christ’s solidarity with the human condition in His identification with the sorrowful and sinful plight of people. In 9:51 Jesus commences His last journey to Jerusalem, and in light of mounting opposition, He prepares His disciples for His departure by teaching and building His life into them.

Prayer:

Lord, I marvel at the compassion, gentleness, and grace of Your Son who healed the blind, the lame, the lepers, and the deaf; who raised up the dead; who preached good news to the poor; and who offered forgiveness to sinners.
