Loving Your Child

Description

As moms, we need to seek Christ first and then parent second. If you try to parent out of your own strength, you will only get so far.

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in training and instruction of the Lord.

Raising children can be an exhausting task.  Children can drive the calmest person to scream.  As a mom, it is best to remain calm concerning your children, but the only way to do that is through Christ.

Realize, as a mom, you cannot do this huge job on your own, but Christ can. You cannot be patient, but Christ can.  You cannot love unconditionally, but Christ can. You cannot be just in all your decisions, but Christ can.

As moms, we need to seek Christ first and then parent second.  If you try to parent out of your own strength, you will only get so far.  Ask God for His strength, His love and His wisdom. Ask God daily to do it all through you.  Once you get into this habit of seeking God first, God’s love will begin to shine through you and your children will benefit.

Prayer: Father, Thank You for giving me this child.  Lord, I want to be a good mom.  I do confess that I get so busy in my “mom duties” that a lot of days I forget about You.  I am sorry for that.  Starting today, I want to change that. I want to put You first, even before my children.  I want to start today by thanking You for all of the many blessings in my life and give You all the glory.  Lord, my heart’s desire is to put You first.  Be patient with me and show me in little ways, throughout my day, ways to seek You first.
