Love That Beat!

Children in an early childhood education program in Malawi play a homemade drum.

Moms, child care workers, and school committee members in Chamba work together to see that all the children in their community get the nutrition, nurture, and education they need. They’ve learned to sew dolls and carve wooden playthings so that the children have a stimulating environment in which to learn.

The school leaks during the rainy season and there are few bought materials for learning and play, but caring adults are determined to provide a healthy environment for their children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth.
