THINK

This is often one of the most misunderstood verses in the Bible. So often, you will hear someone say, “Money is the root of all evil.” But that’s not what this verse is saying. Read it again carefully. Love of money is the real problem. So the question is: How did we know when we are loving it too much?

When we are blessed, God gives us those blessings for a reason. What we need to ask is this: “Do I have wealth (money) or does wealth (money) have me?” In other words, is money a resource that I use for God’s purposes, or is it a resource that controls me?

PRAY

Ask God to reveal to you if money is controlling you and to release you from that control to be better used by Him.

ACT

Do an inventory for the next 24 hours of your thoughts. Specifically, how much do you think about money in a day? When are those times you could focus instead on other things to help you grow closer to God?
