Love Beyond Limits
Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written; “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Moms are ”fixers.” We fix broken toys, torn shirts, we get stains out of clothes, and we nurse our children back to health when they are sick. When our children are hurt emotionally by a friend or loved one, we try to fix those situations as well. But, sometimes in life, we cannot always fix things. We might try to fix a situation, but sometimes our best efforts only seem to make the situation worse. What is a mom to do? We can have empathy and listen to our children’s broken heart, but acknowledge, “mom cannot fix this for you, but God can.” Many times as a mom, we need to point our children to God and teach our children to take their hurt and their anger to God and leave them in God’s very capable hands.
To point your child to God, is acknowledging that you are in fact human, but you love and serve an almighty God who is not human…who is a powerful, holy, sovereign God. A God who wants to hear your child’s hurt, to take on their burdens and who is on their side. The gift that you will be giving your child is immeasurable. You may not be able to always fix things, you may not even physically be around to help your child—so point them to God, who will always be there to guide and direct your child in all things.
Father, Thank You for always loving my children and me. God, I pray that my child will learn to go to You for help, for guidance and to pour their heart out to You. You are faithful and You love my child even more than I do. Give me the courage to not “have” to be the fixer in my child’s life, but to teach my child about You.
