Make your relationship with Jesus the priority. Then love others sacrificially—unconditionally—as He has loved you!
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers—1 JOHN 3:16.
Who do you know who goes against your grain? Who is the one you always seem to clash with? The person you are incompatible with? Is it your boss? A neighbor? Your spouse? A teenage child? You can’t avoid the person because you live or work with him or her, and the clash is always there. Maybe the relationship has become so strained it feels like the person is an enemy.
Jesus gives you and me a different approach. A new way: His way. The key that enables us to love our enemies—to love anyone we are incompatible with—comes in Jesus’ words: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you” (John 15:12). A few verses later, He repeats the command: “Love each other!”
Make your relationship with Jesus the priority. Then love others sacrificially— unconditionally—as He has loved you!
