Lord, Help Me Be Patient

Are you waiting on God to give you direction?

I want what I want, and I don’t want to wait for it.

Patience is not a strength for me. In fact, it’s probably my biggest weakness. Last week I raced through a yellow light, and my son asked why I did that. I told him I didn’t want to stop and wait at the red light. Last night, I told my husband I was tired of waiting on God to give me direction in a decision I’m trying to make.

I don’t like waiting, yet the Bible says God wants me to live “with humility, gentleness and patience.” But patience isn’t possible for me, unless my heart is closely connected to God. I have to attach my hope to the fact that God’s in control. His ways and timing are better than mine.
