Living in His Presence
As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them—LUKE 24:28 – 29.
What blessings of God do we miss when we rush away from His presence?
When I’ve hurried through my prayer time, jumped up off my knees, quickly shut my Bible, closed my notebook, and hurried off to take on my day, I’ve thought of the disciples on the Emmaus Road who longed to linger in God’s presence.
I wonder! Has God wanted to reveal Himself to me in a way I’ve never seen before, but I didn’t have time to linger? Do you rush through your time with God too? Let’s slow down. Let’s keep our eyes closed, our heads bowed for just a few minutes longer, and reflect on the Scripture reading for just one more moment. Will we hear God whisper?
James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” Listen! I think I hear Him coming now…
