Living and Leaving a Legacy

Leaving a legacy is about the moment-by-moment choices we make every day. The way we live today determines our legacy.

I’ll never forget my friend Anne’s funeral. It was heart-breaking, but it was also beautiful! Hi, I’m Renee Swope for Proverbs 31 Ministries.

Anne was so good at loving everyone she met. She pointed others to God in every situation. And with standing-room only at her memorial service, we caught a glimpse of the countless lives God touched through her. She reflected God’s grace throughout her life, even during her battle with cancer.

At the end of her funeral, someone sang one of Anne’s favorite songs called “Remember Me.” As I sat there listening and crying, my friend challenged me to think about my own legacy and to ask, “How will others remember me?”

Will I choose to love? Will I point to God no matter what?

Anne taught me that leaving a legacy is about moment-by-moment choices I make every day – the way I LIVE really determines what I’ll LEAVE behind!
