Little Treasures

Description

Life is such a gift; it is a miracle from God and should not be taken for granted.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13).

My oldest daughter, Kelsey, is pregnant with her first child. Last week she went into her second trimester. Walking this road with my child, my first born, has been an incredible experience. I am reminded all over again, that life is such a gift, a miracle from God and should not be taken for granted. Kelsey and Kevin heard the heartbeat last week. Do you remember the first time you heard your child’s heartbeat? I do. I remember laying on the table with Greg by my side and listening to Kelsey’s heartbeat for the first time. I remember how excited I was and even at 12 weeks, couldn’t wait to meet my baby that was forming inside of me.

What a miracle life is! Sometimes, I believe I take it all for granted. I get so busy in life, with the schedules, the house, my job, the homework, the practices that I forget life itself is a miracle, a gift from God. I forget that I am not guaranteed anything in this life, except that my Heavenly Father loves me, will stay with me and has a plan for me.

I want to challenge you today, to take a moment and look at your children, REALLY look at them and thank God for the little lives he has entrusted you with to parent. Thank God for each precious gift. Life is worth celebrating, even on non-birthday days. What little treasures we have all around us. Take time today to thank God for his blessings and remind yourself of the miracle of life.
