Listening to the Father's Heart - October 31
Son, I give only you the grace for the assignment I have given to you. Your friends may mean well, but they often simply want to spare you from the very hardship I have reserved for you. What I ask of you will always lead to a greater abundant life. If Abraham had listened to his friends, he would never have left Hur and he would certainly never have offered up Isaac to me. If Joshua had asked for advice on walking around Jericho ten times, he would never have won the city. If the blind man had asked my Son Jesus about the wisdom of putting mud in his eyes, he would never have been healed. I am a God who confronts your logic to test your obedience. I want you to know my voice and heed it above the reasoning of all others. Obedience can be costly, but it will always lead to treasure, my treasure. I want you to discern my voice in all areas of your life. It is good to have Godly counsel in your life, but the friends you choose to consult must have the maturity to discern my ways.
But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men”—Matthew 16:23.
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me”—John 21:20-22.
