Life of Peace

Discipline is hard, but don’t grow weary; it will pay off in the long run. Think of the peaceful life with your children when they are grown.

Proverbs 29:17

Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul.

More than anything else, I want to be at peace in my parenting, to know I am doing a good job. The Bible teaches that through discipline I will find this peace and my children will bring delight to my soul. What an answer to my prayers.

In order to find this peace, I must discipline my son. I have to work hard at the beginning, pushing past my hesitation to discipline for the greater outcome of my child. Discipline is hard, but don’t grow weary, it will pay off in the long run. Think of the peaceful life with your child when they are grown.

Father, I want peace in my parenting, and I want my children to be delights to me. Give me the courage to correct my children when they are making unwise choices. When I am inconsistent because I am tired of addressing the same behaviors repeatedly, give me endurance. Bring to my mind the right ways to discipline my children, and make me dependent on you in all that I do. Amen.
