Let There Be Light

Description

God is purposeful in everything He creates, and He created everything. Allow your relationship with God to shape your view of the world.

Read: Genesis 1-2:25 & Matthew 1-2:12 & Psalm 1:1-6 & Proverbs 1:1-6

God created the universe without any tools, using only simple commands. He started with nothing. He brought order, life and beauty to an earth that was “formless and empty” (Genesis 1:2). He brought light into darkness.

You could say that putting life where there was none is kind of God’s thing. He built the universe out of nothing. He put a baby into the womb of a virgin bride. And through Jesus’s death on a cross, God gave each one of us the opportunity to experience life anew.

God didn’t send Jesus to give us religion. God sent Jesus to save us from our sins so we could have a personal relationship with our Creator. When we recognize Jesus as our savior, it’s like pointing a flashlight into a dark room. You see the room as it really is for the very first time. Your approach to everything is changed. Likewise, our world looks dramatically different in the light of a relationship with God.

Don’t let the simple commands fool you. God is purposeful in everything He creates, and He created everything. May this be the year where instead of allowing the world to shape your relationship with God, you allow your relationship with God to shape your view of the world.
