Lend a Hand

Description

In Kenya, 5-year-old Cheru digs for water daily and drinks the contaminated water she finds.

Cheru is often sick and she and the other children in her village miss school because of the burden of finding and carrying water.

In developed countries where clean water is readily available in our homes, too many of us are unaware of life-threatening issues surrounding water in developing nations. Through the efforts of organizations such as World Vision, many more people are becoming aware of the hundreds of millions of people who face serious illness because they have no access to clean drinking water.

Ask God to create compassion in hearts and connect people in developed nations with organizations that can help them make a difference and save lives.

Heavenly Father, remind us of Your command to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Don’t let us rest until we know we have done everything we can to meet this necessity for others.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”  ~ Mark 12:30-31 (NIV)

You can bring clean water to more children in Africa. Join World Vision’s Global 6K for Water this May 6. You can walk or run for water anywhere in the world.
