2 Timothy 1:5
I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
What type of legacy are you leaving behind? You are leaving a legacy, whether you realize it or not. I want my legacy to be one like Paul is talking about in the book of Timothy. He was talking about a third generational legacy, so strong, that it was noticed in all three generations. That is powerful! Notice that it all started with Lois, a mom first, then a grandmother. Her legacy consisted of sincere faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Faith in God cannot be denied. If your faith is grounded and secure in Jesus, then nothing in life will sway you. Storms will come, and may knock you over, but they will not knock you out.
Does your life reflect Jesus? Can your children see His love, patience, gentleness, kindness and forgiving spirit in you? If they can, then you are leaving a legacy of sincere faith, for your children to learn and grow from --that will be passed onto the next generation. If they cannot see Jesus in you, then you have time to change. Start today to reflect Christ in all that you do. When you find yourself being impatient, unloving, not kind, or gentle, cry out to God and beg Him to give you these character traits. You cannot accomplish this character on your own, but God can through you.
Father, I want to leave a rich legacy to my children and grandchildren. Father, I want to be like Lois. I want my life to reflect You, Jesus, so that when people look at me, they don’t see me, but they see You.
