Leap of Faith
When the first rains of the fall season flooded Bekaa Valley refugee settlements In October, it was a harbinger of winter's miserable living conditions for Syrian refugees.
They are worried they will be ill-prepared for the cold, snowy days of winter. Their tents are difficult and dangerous to heat with oil heaters and snow accumulations can make the roofs collapse.
Night-time temperatures typically dip into the mid-30s in the valley and can get as low as the teens. Without adequate income, food supplies, and heat sources, the winter is a hardship for thousands of refugees in Lebanon.
