Lay Down Your Burdens

Sok Ouk, 50, demonstrates the traditional method for watering the garden plants in his village in Cambodia.

An irrigation system makes it possible for Sok to farm year-round. A transformed life makes it satisfying.

After she learned about God’s love at a World Vision children’s club, Sok Ouk’s daughter, Saoly, led the family to Christ. Before, their lives were full of fighting, alcoholism, and hunger. Now, they have love, caring, and community spirit.

“I believe that there is a God who showed his love to me,” says Saoly. She saw a witness to God’s love when fellow children’s club members contributed food for her family.

Now Sok helps his neighbours by offering them farm training. He’s become a loving husband and reliable provider. His role in the family has changed radically. In the past, his children feared him and his violent ways. Of his children now, he says: “They consider me as number one. They love me indeed.”
