Knowing Your Purpose
It has been a huge blessing to be able to be a part of this Alabama team. In my second year, I earned a starting spot on two special teams units. God has been so good to me. It was a life-long dream of mine to just be a player for the Crimson Tide, and now I actually get to start.
I love the game of football, but I am absolutely convinced that the main purpose for me being on this team is not to play football. God allowed me to be on this team to build relationships and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try my best to live my life for the Lord, on and off the field, but I still fall short every day. Thankfully, His grace and love is never ending.
Our chaplains, Gary Cramer and Scotty Hollins, have been great leaders, and they truly live out what it means to be a Christian. Three things that they preach to us have been very helpful in my growth as a believer: 1. Know God; 2. Become Like Him; and 3. Make Him Known.
My relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing in my life, and quite frankly, Jesus is going to be the only thing that matters when we're all gone. Colossians 1:16 says, “For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him.” We exist to serve a Holy God.
Football is awesome, and I love every second of it. But one day it will all be over, and when that day comes, I'm glad I have Jesus Christ as the rock of my life.
